It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Melissa Rose Teneese on May 25, 2024.
Melissa was born in Invermere, BC on October 31st 1988, to Marg Jimmy & Adrian “Scotty” Teneese. Melissa was a bright light in her darkest times and would be able to light up a room with her big smile and her “auntie” laugh anywhere she went.
Melissa worked for the Ktunaxa Nation Council, for the Traditional, Knowledge and Language Sector. Being both Ktunaxa & Shuswap ancestry was what gave her, her passion for the work she did with the communities and loved learning from her knowledge holders.
Melissa loved spending her time with her two beautiful daughters Eva & Carmen and her family and friends any chance she got. Her children meant everything to her and she loved them with everything she had.
Mourning this loss are her two daughters, Eva & Carmen Alexander and her mother, Marg Jimmy (Alan). Also left behind are her siblings: Chantelle Jimmy (Buddy), Alicia Jimmy, Adrian Teneese (Rick), Shane Jimmy, Adam Hunter (Dawn) and Sheldon Hunter and many cousins, auntie and uncles.
Predeceased by her husband, Frankie Alexander, her baby boy Raymond and her father Adrian “Scotty” Teneese.
A Wake Service will be held 5:00 pm Monday June 3, 2024 at the Akisqnuk Band Hall, and Funeral Service to be held the following day, 11:00 am Tuesday, June 4, 2024 also at the Akisqnuk Band Hall.
Interment will take place at the Akisqnuk Cemetery in Windermere following the service.
