Ruth Pighin

Obituary of Ruth Karen Pighin

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Ruth Pighin announce her passing on Sunday June 2, 2024 in Cranbrook, BC.  Ruth was born in Kimberley, B.C. and raised on the Family Farm in Ta Ta Creek, B.C.  She was the eldest child of Ole and Flo Jensen.

As a young woman, she left the farm and moved to Cranbrook to work for BC Tel as an operator, a time she remembered fondly.  She married David Pighin of Cranbrook, B.C. in 1964. They settled in Cranbrook and started a family of their own.  This coming November they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

A Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Mother and Friend, for all who knew her, family and dear friends were most important to her.  She was the rock of our family.  She took care of all things related to the house and family, allowing all of us the room to grow and explore.  She was nurturing, generous of spirit and of her time, we will miss her guidance and laughter.

She started painting landscapes later on in life and enjoyed many different hobbies. She always enjoyed having children around, often babysat and was a Catechism teacher for many years.  She loved being a Grandmother and always had time for her Grandchildren and all their events.

Ruth is survived by her husband David, her children, Karen Pighin, and Eirik (Karrie) Pighin, Grandchildren Zachary (Samantha Thomson), Chase. and Joshua.  Also, she is survived by her brother Gerald Jensen (Sandy), her sister Linda Webber (David), as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Ole and Flo Jensen.

The Family would like to thank Sally Howard, RN and Dr. Ashlee King for their care and commitment to helping Ruth.

A funeral mass for Ruth will take place on Monday June 10, 2024 at Christ the Servant Parish at 11:00 am. A private family interment will take place at Westlawn Cemetery.
