Obituary of Sarah Helma Picco
Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our little Mama started her journey into the loving arms of her Savior and to be reunited with” Papa” on June 8, 2024.
Mom was born on August 14, 1932, in Vulcan, Alberta. She moved to Fernie at the age of 10 with her parents and brothers Tom, Chuck and Dan as well as sisters Reggie, Connie, Inez and Babe.
Her love story with our Dad started at the tender age of 16 and continued for 62 beautiful years until his passing in 2010. She missed him everyday! Together they raised us 4 children in a home filled with love. They lived in Fernie for 53 years and moved to Cranbrook in 2001.
Our Mom lived to serve others. Her life revolved around her family, friends and her devotion to her Savior and her church. She spent many hours working in the church office and cleaning the church, both in Fernie and Cranbrook. She created a loving home for her children and a welcome door for all she met. Dolly was a wonderful and loving friend, she truly connected heart to heart with all those she knew. She gave and received love so easily. We are truly blessed with her loving friends and church family. Her baking was a true experience, and her knitting was truly a labour of love. We are all proud to have worn a “Dolly Picco” sweater.
Mom will be missed by those who knew her and especially her loving family, her children Donald (Debbie), Diane (Gary), David (Brenda), Donelda (Doug). Dolly’s grandchildren of whom her and Dad were so proud; Steven (Kim), Kent (Lori), Dayna (Adam), Tommy, Brian, Jacklyn, Jodi (Anthony). Her great-grandchildren Madison, Trenton, Janaeya, Jeza, Lola, Kyle, Mason, Callum and Scarlett. Mom was blessed to meet her Great- Great Granddaughter Valley. Our Mom’s many nieces and nephews and all those who loved her called her grandma. She loved them all.
Mom was predeceased by the love of her life, Angelo, her parents Conrad and Sarah Bendicson, her brothers and sisters as well as her grandson Tommy.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday June 24, 2024 at 11:30 am at Christ the Servant Parish in Cranbrook. Dolly will be interred with Angelo at the Westlawn cemetery at a later time.
The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person. To view please visit Dolly’s obituaries at the McPherson Funeral Home webpage or facebook page and follow the link.
