Obituary of Donald Henry Smith

It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Donald Henry Smith, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother on June 9, 2024 at the age of 92. 

Don was born in 1931 in a small town Cudworth Saskatchewan to Nicholas and Agnes Schmitz. He had 7 siblings. Later after his dad died at one year of age they moved to a farm 20 miles outside of Humboldt called Englefeld where he and his 7 siblings lived until Leonard the  oldest son died of a farming accident. Their mother died 3 years later. Then his uncle Henry and Aunt Louis took in the remaining seven of them.

After growing up he headed to British Columbia where he moved around a bit doing work surveying highways.  He settled down in Cranbrook and started his family. He became a business owner and salesman for Falkins Insurance agency until he retired. 

He is survived by his Daughter Brenda(Jerry) children, Michelle and Cara and Son Brad(Paula) children, Brittany and Zachary. Along with 4 great grandchildren Kais, Ryley, Harper and Silas

 Predeceased by his wife Beverly and Son Robert. As well as his 7 brothers and sisters. 

He was known for his generosity and kindness, his love of road trips and his passion for music.

He will be truly missed. 

A Memorial Tea will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, July 5, 2024 at McPherson Funeral Services, reception hall, Cranbrook.
