Obituary of Marian Estella Deatrich

Marian Estella Deatrich of Cranbrook BC passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024 at the age of 98.

 

Marian was born on the family homestead near Battle Lake, Alberta to Carl and Ebba Hagen on August 11, 1925.  As a young woman she worked with the kitchen staff in lumber camps in BC, and was also a riveter for Boeing in Vancouver in the early days of World War II.  She married Julius (Jules) Deatrich on November 25, 1944 and had 5 children:  Sharon (Del) McKinnon, Warren (Terry) Deatrich, Denice Deatrich, Wendy (Jeff) Cowburn, and Roger (Sheri) Deatrich.

 

In 1967 they moved to Cranbrook where they spent many happy years.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband Jules, her son Warren, and her parents and siblings Kels Hagen, Doris Knowles, Dorothy Williams and Bernice Van Tighem.

 

Marian leaves behind her siblings Joyce Carder, Darleen Fountaine and Charles Hagen, and her children Sharon, Denice, Wendy, and Roger, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

The family plans to celebrate Mom's life later this year.  Please remember her from time to time when you are enjoying food and drink with your family and friends - Marian loved those times the best.

 

We would like to thank the staff of the St. Mary's unit at Joseph's Creek Care Village for their loving care, with a special shout-out to Lesley, Maryann, Jeannette and Cara who looked after Mom from the beginning of her 5 year stay.
