Obituary of Harold Wesley Sexsmith

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Harold Wesley Sexsmith is saddened to announce that Wes passed away

suddenly on August 7, 2024. He is survived by his three daughters Tina Aug 7, 2024 (Craig), Kelly, and Kim

(Mark). His Grandkids Alyssa (Stephen), Brendan, Brooke, Carson, Sullivan, Frankie, and

Jackson. As well as his brother and best friend Dwight Sexsmith (Gloria) and a large extended

family. He was predeceased by his wife Terri and sons Chris and Michael.

Wes was born in Wolseley Sask. in 1951 to Harold and Eileen Sexsmith.Being raised by

farmers, Wes learned at a young age the importance of a strong work ethic. Through high

school he started working in his family's hardware store helping out his Dad. In 1971 Wes

married Terri and shortly after, they moved to Cranbrook, BC, where they proceeded to raise

their family. They were avid Cranbrook Colts fans and some of Wes’ happiest times were

volunteering with their booster club. Wes was an Engineer with CP Rail for 35 years until he was

able to retire early and focus on the things that were most important to him, which was family

and traveling. He braved a roadtrip across the country with his teenage daughters, went to New

Orleans with his Sister in Laws, Sharon and Judy, and spent several winters down in Arizona

with Dwight and his wife Gloria. There were no shortage of trips but the ones that meant the

most were vacations with his kids and Grandkids. Where he was always up for a game, a drink,

story telling, and a kitchen dance party. Wes never needed the spotlight but could always be

counted on to throw in a witty one liner that would have everyone laughing.

Recently, Wes kept himself busy by driving cars for local dealerships and enjoying daily coffee

meetups with his fellow CP Retirees.

Wes was always proud of all his grandkids and loved watching them participate in their activities

whether it was swimming, soccer or hockey he was always happy to sit in the stands and cheer

them on.

Wes’ last weekend was spent in Brandon Manitoba with many close friends and family. We will

always remember the smile on his face while reminiscing about happy memories while also

making new ones.

Dads passing will be felt by many but none more than his daughters and grandkids. Losing our

patriarch has left a large void but Dad instilled in us the importance of family and we hope to

make him proud by continuing our get-togethers and keeping his legacy alive by sharing stories

with the younger generation. Although right now we’re struggling we know that as Dad would

say this is just “bye fer now”
