My first meeting with Bob and Orma was at Fort Steele Heritage Town in/around 2002. I came to know them a bit better years later, and have known Orma better than Bob. That said, I feel connected because of both of their indubitable warmth, charm and genuine spirits. They have always struck me so well as people of huge character, strong values and love - for community, family and each other. They always seemed so "together" in many, many ways. I appreciate the contributions both have made to our community, and respect their ways of doing so. I have faith that Bob is making the most of this next journey. Godspeed, sir. My love to the Termuende family, and especially to Orma. xo

Living at the Wild Horse ranch while performing through the summer at Fort Steele Theatre, came with a few other bonuses. We got to ride the little tractor grass cutter, a few hours at a time on occasion. And there was exercise and cool down time available for those of us who joined the pipe switching irrigation system. Exercise moving the pipes, and cool water from the wild horse creek on those hot Summer days. Life on the ranch was very grand, and made better because Bob was there. But it was very apparent to us all, that Bob was able to be himself because of his remarkable and beautiful wife, Orma. She was the great enabler, and Bob and all of the rest of us were better because of this extraordinary Lady. Bob and Orma were each their own person in every way. But they were one in the most significant way.
Fond memories with condolences and blessings,
Sharon & J-P.

While working on the shows at Fort Steele, Sharon and I had the good fortune to live that summer in the former servant quarters of the Wild Horse home. In my time off, I would often find a place in the Wild Horse creek and try my hand at gold panning. I managed to score a good few ounces of “fools’ gold”. After most of the Summer had past, Bob came to me while we were sitting out in the court yard from the kitchen and handed me a small vile with about 8 pieces of gold dust at the bottom. “Ultimately,” he said, “this is what you are looking for.” I still have the vile, and its few kernels of gold. It is far more valuable than its weighted value. It was a gift from Bob.

One morning at the Wild Horse Ranch, we rose early to what Bob described as
a “Millionaire’s Breakfast”. As we sat down to eat, he explained; “The eggs were fresh laid about half an hour ago. The mushrooms were picked fresh this morning from the patch where they grew near the barn. And the beautifully thin cut green onions were fresh from the garden. He knew this because he had picked them all. The bread for the toast, had just been made. The jams were from the farm berries. The fresh coffee, bacon and sausages, were all from the local area and FRESH ! Only a millionaire could ever be party to such an event!” It was a spectacular breakfast to greet the day. Bob had a grin on his chin to match..as did the three of us. I remember it like it was yesterday; I can almost taste it. It was a true “Bob moment.”

Surely, one of the reasons Bob ( & Orma) was so connected to the small Fort Steele Theatre Co. across the highway from the Wildhorse Ranch, was the fact that he was, himself, a great story teller. There was never a time that we congregated on his porch, around the breakfast or dinner table, the living room, or the small courtyard out from the kitchen, when Bob didn’t share more stories with us. The stories never repeated, and included times spent prospecting, interesting people they had known, unusual events that he and Orma witnessed at the shows in Vegas, and things that had happened in the wild. Like actors in the Theatre, Bob transported us away from our daily cares and opened the worlds he had experienced to our imaginations. Here, he was in his comfort zone.

My condolences to the family and friends of Bob. I went to school with Bob's son Rob here in Cranbrook. I first met Bob in 1988 when I worked at Ron's Collision. Bob brought his 1960 Cadillac limousine, and then his 1965 Mustang convertible to us for restoration. I had many visits with Bob as he came to the shop to see the progress on his cars. Bob would drop by the shop over the years with his special cars, and he was always so pleasant to visit with. He may not have known it, but he had positive influences on me. My parents knew Bob well, and thought very highly of him. You'll be missed Bob!

I will never forget the kindness that Bob and your family showed me during my two years at Fort Steele Theatre. Living next door to the Tremunde's made the experience all the more special. Helping with irrigation pipes, sharing cocktails on the porch, jumping on your trampoline and frequent visits - those times are forever etched in my heart. Sending you all my deepest condolences.

Dear Bob, I’ll never forget my wonderful summer out in Fort Steel and how you, Orma and little Rob adopted us. That you put us to work laying irrigation pipes and treated us to the best afternoons filled with music and conversation. Thank you for welcoming my husband and I back years later and connecting over the years. Your memory is a blessing
