Obituary of Grant William Patrick
Please share a memory of Grant to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Grant William Patrick was born on May 24, 1988 in Vancouver BC to Vernon and Deborah Patrick. He passed away on September 3, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta.
Although some viewed Grant as intimidating, he was far from that. He was a man with a big heart and often wore it on his sleeve. He was a big teddy bear and someone that would give you the shirt off of his back. You could go to Grant for cheering up, words of encouragement, or just to talk with. He always saw the good in everyone he met even if they couldn’t see it in themselves. He was an individual that always had a joke or liked to play around.
Five must have been a lucky number for Grant. He was the fifth born child. He also had five children of his own. His children were his world. He did all he could to ensure his kids had their wants and needs met. Grant was the opposite of his parents. His parents mainly produced girls. However, he made boys. He has four sons: Kaeden, Tristen, Soren, and Baby G (Grant). Cynthia is his daughter and a daddy’s girl at that.
Grant spent many of his childhood years and adulthood moving and traveling throughout BC, Alberta, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. He had a love for life, nature, and his family and friends. He sat with his sister Kimberly while she was in labor with her son Thomas. After Thomas’ delivery he proudly accepted the invitation to be Thomas Godfather.
He used to tell everyone he was born a wolf. There were times he would hang himself out the car window howling at the moon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gathering huckleberries. There was one year Grant was being a die hard. He decided not to go to Elmo Powwow and stay in the huckleberry patch.
He was very athletic. He tried out hockey but figured it was not for him. He enjoyed playing basketball and was what you could usually find him doing in his adolescent years. He loved riding bikes and would often ride them up and down the Rez. He even joined his siblings and played slo-pitch.
Grant is preceded in death by his mother Deborah Patrick, nieces Tamryn Gravelle and Dezirea Joseph, maternal grandparents Les Joseph and Beatrice Bullshields, paternal grandfather Poochie Patrick, aunties Maureen Joseph, Gwenda Joseph, Crystal Dionne, and Margaret and his uncle Sidney Morigeau. Grant was also preceded in death by his great grandfather Edward Grant Patrick “Fox”, and his great uncle Richard William Lum; as these men were who he was named after.
Grant is survived by his children: Kaeden, Tristen, Cynthia, Soren and Baby G. His father Vernon Patrick. His siblings Big Mac, Kelli (Justin), Katrina, Kimberly (Casper), Kasandra, Veronica, Autumn (Trevor), and Dakota (Jaylin). His nieces and nephews: Tarryn, Natasha, Wailand, Treydan, Elijah, Thomas, Rose, Darius, Colin, Deshawn, Deborah, Nicholas, Aaron, Latayah, Rozlyn, RayLee, Danielle, Natalia, Mariana, and Caliah. He is also survived by numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and family and friends.
