Obituary of Gordon Earl McBride

Gord was born in Hamilton Ontario where he grew up with his brothers Bob & David. This is where Gord developed his love of sports, playing baseball, golfing, and learning to shoot a mean game of pool. In 1968 Gord decided to head out for adventure and go west where he landed in Rossland, managing the bar at the Allen Hotel.

In 1973 Gord’s daughter Michelle was born a beautiful little girl who looked so much like him and had his feisty personality. She was his pride & joy and they always had a special bond. In 1974 Gord moved to Elkford to manage the bar in the Elkford Motor Inn, he was always proud to say he poured the first beer there. This is where Gord met Judy, his love and best friend, and they were married in 1977.

Gord and Judy had a daughter Sara in 1980, a very special child who filled Gord’s heart with love. Sara fought a battle with childhood cancer, but she had an amazing dad who was always by her side.

In 1993 Gord’s first granddaughter Jamie was born, followed by Cody, Sara, and Tyla. Gord loved being a grandpa and spending time with them.

In 1999 Gord & Judy moved back to Cranbrook and opened Durangoes Lounge and later McBee’s Pub in Kimberley where they made many friends and had a lot of new adventures,

Gord loved sports and played ball for many years. He was an awesome pool player and was very proud to have qualified to play in the BCA North American 8-Ball Championships in Las Vegas 3 times.

On Gord’s 80^th birthday Judy & Michelle surprised him with a trip back to Hamilton where he visited all his childhood places and had a wonderful reunion with his brother Dave & family.

Gord always loved being a part of the large Jones family and dearly loved all his nieces, nephews and brothers and sister-in-laws.

Gord was predeceased by his parents Earl and Effie McBride, his brother Bob and his daughter Sara. He leaves to mourn his wife Judy, daughter Michelle, granddaughter Jamie (Christian), grandson Cody (Jenna), his brother David (Marylynn) and his special buddy Boots.
