Obituary of Daryl Grady

 (nee Furneaux)

October 25, 1931 - March 17, 2011

Daryl was born in Coal Creek, B.C., growing up with her family, who managed the General Store and Post Office. Attending and graduating from Fernie High School, she met her husband Don. Daryl was very active in Cub Scouts both in Fernie and Cranbrook, and took her "Gilwell" training at Hatzic Lake. She was a long time volunteer for the Cancer Society, and with a number of good friends, provided entertainment, singing and dancing, for residents of The Rocky Mountain Lodge and The F. W. Green Home for may years. She enjoyed travelling to a number of different countries, camping with family, and in later years enjoyed golfing with many of her friends.

Daryl is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Don; their sons Bruce (Maple Ridge) and Gerry and his wife Jan (Cranbrook); three grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, and Sarah; her sisters Beth (Cloverdale) and Jean (Toronto). She was predeceased both by her brother, Dick Furneaux (Edson, AB) and sister, Alice Cook (Sparwood).

Daryl passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 17th in the F. W. Green Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Greg and Dr. Cecile Andreas for the exceptional care they provided Daryl through her last years and to the staff at the F. W. Green Home for the tremendous kindness and loving care she received over the last five years.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, at 2:00 PM at Christ Church Anglican, in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the F. W. Green Home.
