Obituary of Bradley Donald Smith

It is with extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bradley Donald Smith, loving husband, father, brother and uncle on November 7, 2024 at the age of 63.

Brad was born on August 30, 1961 in the Town of Cranbrook, British Columbia to Don and Charmaine Smith. He was the youngest of three kids, with an older brother Robert and a sister Brenda.

Brad grew up in Cranbrook and spent his summers with his father and siblings at Tie lake near Jaffray and the rest of the year with his mother in Cranbrook. He always spoke very fondly of those summers boating and water skiing and grew to love the water. He became an excellent swimmer and water skier. His parents both instilled the love of the outdoors and creation in him. He would hike up many mountains in his lifetime and have the pictures to prove it.

Brad graduated and became a winder electrician which led to him working as an elevator mechanic for 35 years. 

Brad married Paula Blackwood in 1983 and they became parents to a baby girl Brittany in 1988 and then a baby boy Zachary in 1992. 

Brad and his family lived on the west coast in mostly Burnaby and Port Moody for 16 years. Then moved back to Cranbrook to raise their children with a slower pace of life. 

Brad and Paula enjoyed traveling to many different places over the years. His favorite place was Costa Rica. Because of the ocean, beaches, surfing and wildlife.

Brad retired in September 2021 to help his ill wife and aging father. 

Brad was a hard worker and loved his family deeply. His children have many fond memories of camping every summer, spending time with him boating and around the camp fire. There are many fond memories of karaokeing with friends and family until the wee hours of the morning. He always gave it his all, singing each song he loved with passion.

He was loved greatly by his family and will be missed every day until they are reunited.

He is survived by his wife Paula and children Brittany Wickenheiser (husband Lee), and Zachary Smith (wife Carlee); his sister Brenda St Jean (husband Jerry), and their children Michelle St Jean and Cara Timms.

Predeceased by his father Donald Smith, mother Charmaine Cox, and brother Robert Smith.  

Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024

At the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's witnesses in Cranbrook BC. At 2:00 pm MT
