Obituary of Linda Opperman

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Opperman (Schauenberg) on December 13th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 16, 1947, in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Linda was a prairie girl at heart and always maintained a strong connection to her family’s beloved farm. She lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and faith.

Linda was the cherished and devoted wife of Vern Opperman for 56 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving home and raised two children: their daughter Shannon (Tom) and their son David (Haley). Linda was a proud and doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Kaden (14) and Graysen (8), who brought her endless joy.

She is survived by her beloved husband Vern, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, and many other loving family members. Linda was predeceased by her parents and her two older brothers, whose memories she always held close to her heart.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together through her love of cooking and entertaining, creating countless cherished memories around the table. She treasured the friendships made during camping adventures with Vern, where laughter, wine, and good company were always present. Linda also found great joy in her shenanigans with her best girlfriends, moments filled with fun and laughter. She was immensely proud of her children and never hesitated to share that pride with them.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Linda’s legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Monday December 23, at 11:00am at Christ The Servant Parish in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Linda's name.
