Just informed of the sad news of Paul's passing. I(Paul) first met Paul in 1970 in Maple Ridge B.C. I spent the summers of 1970 to 1972 in Winnipeg with family who Paul was friends with. In 1980 , a group of us staked Placer leases in Perry Creek, B.C. and then we all got jobs in the Kimberley and Cranbrook area.until Susan and I moved to the mainland in 1984. Paul was a great ambassador to all of our dogs over the years. Great adventures and friendship. RIP Paul. Paul and Susan Dunning Nanaimo.

I met Paul in recent years when I snuck into the house around midnight, I was informed to be quiet as the fluffy white dog(Lily in this case) was grumpy and didn’t like to be disturbed….. so DONT a knock.
Lily was a lamb thanks to some dog treats from my pocket lol.
Paul on the other hand in his own words “ had been abandoned by everyone”
They had all gone out of town to a wedding and Carley asked if I would give his midnight IV antibiotics to him.
We crossed paths intermittently after that and always had a laugh about me sneaking into the house while his wife was away.
Thoughts with you all, he was truly an amazing person, hold the memories close and don’t be afraid to share them

I met Paul in grade 8 in 1959 and we were close friends for 15 years. I have many happy memories of our many times together and he introduced me to various activities. These include my first beer outside of his garage and the pleasure of playing the ponies at Assiniboine Downs. He also taught me how to waterski at the Falcon Lake cottage. Soon after we met, he introduced me to his uncle, Jim Harrison, a famous geologist and Director of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). Uncle Jim sent me the GSC rock and mineral sets which I treasured. Notably, I ended up working at GSC for 40 years as an Arctic field geologist. Paul was an usher at my wedding in 1970 and in 1976 when he came to visit us in Calgary I gave him my 1964 Barracuda. I am sorry we lost touch over the years, but I will always smile when I think of him and all the fun and adventure we shared. Ashton Embry

We were inseparable for our days at Kelvin HS. Played tennis amongst other things with me, Ashton Embry and others. He was my attendant at my wedding in 1970. I'm sorry we lost track over the years. Last I heard he was in Kelowna, became an electrical and was working up north. I couldn't find him not from lack of trying. We enjoyed a memorable trip in 1967 when we rented a 67 Ford Fairlane with a 289 v8. We visited many playboy clubs starting in Milwaukee, Chicage, Detroit, Montreal, Boston and New York to name a few. We got a signed photo from Lisa Baker who was the Playmate of the year at the NY club. I recall every thing at the clubs were $2.50. (We ate steak for those 2 weeks) It was also the worlds fair in Montreal, as well as the racial riots in Detroit where we almost lost Gord Smith to the natives. We put on 6700 miles in 2 weeks and Paul use a high speed drill to take off 5000 miles before we turned it in. It took 2 days to turn it back. Yes mischievous is an apt description. Fond memories Paul, rest in peace. Dave Peacock

When I think of Paul , I love that he always called me ‘Bonus’ instead of Bonita. So endearing. And I am forever grateful that he taught my husband Peter to ‘Never Snore’ !
From sharing a bedroom with his younger brother Peter for years, Paul would not allow ANY sound to permeate the night while sleeping. He would whisper loudly “PEEETTTER stop snorrrring!”
My husband Peter makes zero sound when sleeping …thank you Paul for your years of training. Now this is a real ‘Bonus’. Hope you are having a fun time on the other side.
With love , sister in law
