Robert Leslie Fields

1934 - 2011

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Leslie Fields announces his passing at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 76 years of age.

Robert was born in Reigate, England on May 8, 1934 and moved to Canada in 1956, where he resided in Vancouver, Nelson, Calgary and finally Cranbrook in 1967. Robert was an avid sports fan playing soccer and cricket and spent many enjoyable hours on the golf course with his men's group. Through the years he spent much of his spare time coaching minor hockey and minor softball. Robert also coached a minor soccer team to the provincial championship while living in Calgary. Robert was a life long music lover playing both the clarinet and the saxophone while in the King's Own Rifles as well as city and concert bands. Robert spent countless hours volunteering and fundraising with the Associated Canadian Travellers/United Commercial Travelers (39 years) and always enjoyed his volunteer activities with the Children's' Festival.

Robert will be lovingly remembered for his happy, easy going and kind nature. He will be dearly missed.

Robert is survived by his wife Diana (50 years); son Derek (Joyce); daughter Carol Ann (Derek); brother Laurence (Donna); sister Gay (Bryan); nephews Paul, Keith, Darryl and Eric. He was predeceased by his mother Ann and step-father Syd.

Please join the family in a Celebration of Robert's Life on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Sam Steele Room of the Day's Inn in Cranbrook from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Robert can be made to the: Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013 Stn BRM B, Toronto, Ontario, M7Y 2L3.
