Obituary of Irene Damstrom

1922 - 2011

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mom and grandma, Irene on April 5, 2011 at the F.W. Green Memorial Home in Cranbrook.

Our mom Irene was one of the kindest, most generous people you could ever meet. She was an avid gardener, a great cook and most of all an awesome mom and grandma. She loved to walk out in the bush and also around her beloved Cranbrook, and also loved going for drives and for coffee with her friend, Don. She worked for many years at Top Crop and was well liked and respected by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. Special thanks go to Laurie Ward and Janet Woodley and all the staff at Interior Health, the staff at the F.W. Green Home, and Dr. Davis at the Green Clinic. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Irene is survived by her son, Clay (Lisa) Damstrom, daughter, Karen Damstrom and grandson, Mike Damstrom. She was predeceased by her husband, Einar Damstrom, parents Owen and Louise Barrett, brothers, Walter, Sam, Ivor and Tom.

At Irene's request there will be no service. There will be a family gathering in her honour at a later date. Memorial donations in honour of Irene can be made to the: Cranbrook Hospital Auxiliary, c/o East Kootenay Regional Hospital,13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9.
