Obituary of Muriel Sherratt

Please share a memory of Muriel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1932 - 2011

On April 13, 2011 the family of Muriel Sherratt said goodbye to Mum. Her courageous battle with cancer was fought with dignity and an extremely positive attitude. Her motto was, "If I don't try, it won't happen."

Mum was born at home on July 12, 1932 in Boswell, B.C., to Kenneth and Alice Wallace. She was the eldest of 2 children. On July 2, 1951 she married Owen Sherratt and they had 5 children. Muriel is survived by Owen and all of her children as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with Owen, left to cherish her memory are; Kay (Ken) Epp, Irene (Jerry) Bischler, Glen Sherratt, Jean (Kelly) Easton, Sandra (Travis) Preston. She was so proud of all of her family and especially her grandchildren; Connie (Ron) White, Jamie (Courtnay) Epp, Gary (Danielle) Bischler, Troy (Lindsay) Bischler, Jason (Ashley) Sherratt, Kristi Sherratt, Stephen (Emily) Hutchinson, Christian Hutchinson, and Quinn Preston. Her pride and joy were her great grandchildren; Jayden and Carter White and Wyatt Bischler. She was predeceased by her brother Boyd Wallace.

There was never a job too big for her to tackle and she always had time to lend a hand to family, friends or people she had yet to know well. She loved to provide dinner for any and all and gave us an opportunity to gather. All were welcome at her table. She thoroughly enjoyed anything in the outdoors. She loved to hunt, fish, hike and burn a great brush fire. She was an avid quilter, gardener and seamstress. From Avon Lady to Ambulance attendant there was no job she didn't take pride in. She will be missed by many.

There will be no service at this time but a family celebration will be held at the lake at a later date. No flowers by request. Memorial donations in honour of Muriel may be made to the SPCA, 3339 Highway 3/95, Cranbrook, BC V1C 7B2.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
