Mrs.Julie Heywood passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the age of 81.
She was the loving mother of Evelyn Goodfellow, Laura Caudrin (David), Tera Shuya (Jerry), and Linda Erychuk and will be lovingly missed by five grandchildren, Noelle and Jeffrey Goodfellow, Amanda Shuya, and Allan and James Stringer and one great granddaughter Elizabeth Cartwright. She is also survived by her brother Ernie Channell and sisters Laura Smillie and Marj Gill. She will also be lovingly missed by her friend and companion Jim Fildey. Julie was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Heywood. Her mother and father, Clara and Arthur Channell, two sisters, Ella Porter and Louella Channell, and two brothers, Al and Sam Channell.
Julie was an active member in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 in many Board positions and has also served on the executive of the BC Senior Games, with both Zone 7 and the Provincial Board. She enjoyed bowling, playing crib and darts, and loved being with her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all.
A visitation for Julia Florence Heywood will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion branch #24 on Saturday, May 28, 2011. A reception in honour of Julia will follow the service at the Legion. All are welcome to attend.
