Obituary of Anne Alma Desnoyers
1923 - 2011
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Anne Alma Desnoyers on June 14, 2011 at 88 years of age.
Anne was born on February 19, 1923 in Lipton, Saskatchewan. Anne moved to Kimberley with her husband Jerome in 1944. She worked at the Kimberley Super Value Bakery, City Bakery, and was also a seamstress at the Kimberley Dry Cleaners. Anne was actively involved in the community. She was one of the originators of Alanon, the Women's Sewing Circle, volunteered with Senior's Helping Seniors, and also for many years with the Kimberley Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. She was passionate about gardening, curling, fishing and camping. Anne loved dancing and was also an excellent seamstress. Later in life Anne joined the Kimberley Seniors Club where she took part in floor curling and faithfully attended the seniors dances.
Anne was a caregiver who was always there for her family, friends and neighbours in need. She was known to have a great sense of humour, was quick with her remarks, and was feisty and independent. Most of all, Anne will be remembered for her dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed.
Anne leaves to mourn her loss, her daughter Jeanette Desnoyers, granddaughter Michelle Foster, and the light of her life, great grandson Declan Jerome Foster, her sisters Barbara Johnson, Esther Gilbert, Marion Scheibel, numerous nieces and nephews and brother-in-law Wilf Desnoyers and his wife Jean and extended siblings. She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Mary Ewaskui, her husband Jerome, her grandson Jeremy, her brother Henry Ewaskui, her sisters Kathleen Blue and Lee Chesham and her brother-in-law George Chesham.
The family would like to thank the staff at Joseph Creek Care Village for their compassionate care during her short stay.
A memorial tea in honour of Anne will be announced in the paper in the near future. A graveside service for Anne will be held in the Kimberley Cemetery on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10:00 am.
