Joseph Daignault
December 16, 1946 - November 10, 2014
With heavy hearts and deepest sorrow, the family of Joseph Daignault announce his passing on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the EKRH in Cranbrook at the age of 67 years.
Joe suffered a stroke in September 2005 which left him confined to a wheelchair because of complete left sided paralysis. Joe never lost hope to one day again, walk beside his wife, Doris of 40 plus years.
Joe was born and raised and received his education in Creston, BC. In May, 1965, Joe began his many years of employment with Crestbrook Forest Industries. When Joe retired from CFI because of plant closure and medical issues, he was awarded and acknowledged with an award for 25 years of accident free employment service.
Joe married his wife, Doris, in Creston in 1968 and moved to Cranbrook in September, 1997. They raised three children who have given them seven wonderful grandchildren.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Henry and Valida Daignault; a sister, Irene Kirtzinger; three brothers, Edgar, Rene and Hubert Daignault. He is survived by his wife, Doris, two sons and a daughter: Shane and Julie Daignault (Joshua, Lindsay and Andrea), Bryan and Dana Daignault (Ashley and Courtney), Laurie and Darryl Powell (Tyler and Nicholas), all residing in Creston, BC.
Joe became a resident of Joseph Creek Care Village in March 2007 and that soon became his home. Joe entered Joseph Creek a stranger and left an appreciated and wonderful friend to many residents along the way. We were truly blessed with the friendships and care of RCAs, LPNs and RNs throughout our years at Joseph Creek. We will miss them as much as we know they will miss Joe. He always had kind words, a story or joke to share and tell, and was truly connected with his extended family there.
A graveside service for the family will take place in Creston, BC at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Friday, November 21, 2014. Memorial Services will be held in Cranbrook, BC at the Christ Church Anglican (46 - 13th Avenue South) on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Refreshments and fellowship will follow in the Ballroom at the Heritage Inn In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to make donations on Joe's behalf may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation BC & Yukon or the Kids Help Phone.
