Obituary of Joan Carolyn Manz

Joan Carolyn Marguerite Manz (nee Broster), 77, of Invermere passed away peacefully after a graceful battle with cancer on December 1, 2014 at Columbia House in Invermere. BC
Joan was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba to Doris and Alf Broster in 1937. She grew up in Island Falls, SK on the Churchill River, moving to Flin Flon in her youth, and having her first daughter Cari. Joan and Cari moved to Calgary in 1964 where Joan was employed at Texaco. She married and had another daughter, Jade.
Joan moved to the family cabin in Invermere in 1998 where she made many wonderful friends. She was a great bridge player and was deeply involved in CV Arts where she shared her love of painting. Joan was a self-taught pianist and vocalist who was never shy of entertaining a crowd. Joan was well loved in her community and welcomed everyone into her life with open arms.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Cari and Jade; her granddaughter, McKenzie; her sister, Jill Rowe; and many nephews and nieces. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Ron.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to all of the caregivers at Columbia House for making her journey comfortable. Special mention to all of her friends who made every moment they spent with her so meaningful.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6 at Pynelogs in Invermere at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to the BC Cancer Society.
