Obituary of George Frederick Martin

August 5, 1945 - June 15, 2011

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of George Martin, on June 15, 2011, at age 65. George was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He leaves behind his loving wife Gail, son Corey, daughter Sheena (Doug) and granddaughter Cassandra, sisters Ardith (Peachie), Rochelle (Ken), brothers Terry (Cathy), Tony (Cheryl), Grant (Karen) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by sister Annette, and parents Marie and Lyle Martin.

George was born and raised in Kimberley, BC where he lived many enjoyable years. In 1966 George fell in love with his soulmate, Gail, and they were married soon after and have been inseparable ever since. As a young man he began his career as a Millwright in the Concentrator for Cominco, where he worked until the mine closure. He loved the Lord, studied his Bible daily and lived a life of faith. George loved to hunt, hike, and quad in the outdoors. George will be remembered as a gentle and encouraging man, who found it easy to forgive. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend to many. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Kimberley Pentecostal Church in Meadowbrook at 11:00 am.
