Irene Mary Reimer
"Rene"
January 31, 1935 - February 19, 2015
Irene was born in Nipawin, SK, and grew up on the family farm in White Fox, SK. She married Larry in 1955 and moved to Saskatoon where they raised their family. Irene had wanted to become a nurse before marrying, so once the kids grew into their teens she went back to school to finish her Grade 12, attending Walter Murray Collegiate along with her daughters! She received her R.N. Diploma from the Kelsey Institute in 1973. After a fulfilling career working at City Hospital in Saskatoon, Irene and Larry retired in 1993 to Kimberley, BC.
Irene and Larry enjoyed every second of their retirement surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and crystal clear lakes. Irene was thrilled with the longer growing season here as she was an avid gardener. Irene and Larry eventually relocated to Marysville, BC, and it was here in her "dream home" that Irene passed away surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer at 80 years of age.
Irene, born and raised on a farm, knew firsthand the value of hard work, determination, and tenaciousness, which served all of us well throughout her life. She was a homemaker, nurse, gardener, renowned cook, a solid support, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
'Rene was one feisty lady, and nothing proved that more than her strong will, uncomplaining manner, and her incredible refusal to give in during her final days. It was going to be on her terms only. The night before she died her last words were "I'm canceling this dog and pony show!"
Rene is survived by her three children: Lee (Don Lepp) Reimer, Laurie (Ken) Brewster and Dean (Jennifer Boyle) Reimer; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeremy) Siemens, Andrea (Trevor) Arnold and Taylor Brewster; three great-grandchildren: Emily, Oliver and Charlie Siemens; one sister: Sheila (Keith) Hawkins and their son Neil and his family; one brother: Ian (Sylvia) Oliver and his family. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Reimer on November 17, 2013.
There is no service by request. The interment of both Larry and Irene Reimer will take place in Saskatoon, SK, at a date to be determined.
