Lenor Edwards
1923 - 2015
It was a beautiful, sunny, spring afternoon on Friday March 13, 2015 when Lenor Edwards peacefully passed away with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Mom was born on June 5, 1923 in Taber, AB. She was 1 of 9 children born to Lester and Sarah Day. In March 1941, Lenor married the love of her life Joseph Edwards. They farmed in Taber and in 1958 they happily moved to Cranbrook, where there was no wind!
Mom's love of her career as a LPN was evident until the end, as she often told the care aide's, LPN's and nurses how they should do their job. More often than not, they appreciated her input.
Mom loved her flower gardens, knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking. She was well known among her family and friends for her amazing bread, buns, cinnamon buns and apple pies. Mom was most passionate about her family and was happiest when surrounded by them. She would light up when her great grandchildren came to visit.
Mom is survived by her 5 children Gordon (Lynda), Peggy (Rob), Phillis (Tom), Sherry (Larry) and Mark (Samantha); 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her sister Norine; sister-in-law Freida; brother-in-law Neil and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Edwards in 1990, her parents, 8 siblings and her in-laws.
Our family would like to thank the workers at Joseph Creek Care Village for the care they gave our Mom over the years. A special thank you to Dr. Madeline for the wonderful care to her "patient with nine lives" and for always being there when we needed her. A huge thank you to Mom's dear friend Clair, who was by her side until the end, and to Darla and Chuck who were always so good to Mom.
A Celebration of Lenor's Life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015. It would have been our Mom's 92nd birthday. The time and place will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mom's honour may do so to the charity of their choice.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
