I only just this minute learned the sad news of the passing of Mary Lou. I see it is a bit over 2-years ago. Our deepest condolences to you girls, Waleah, Wanesa, and Wanda, and all your families. This is so very hard to believe. She was so vibrant and always full of energy and life when we knew her and, looking around and reading, it seems that had never changed. When I first set foot in Cranbrook in 1980, where I knew absolutely no one, she welcomed me as though I was already a dear friend and then she became one to me. So friendly, so kind, so open, so generous. She set us up with a good realtor and later, when we actually moved to Cranbrook, she helped me when I was in dire need of a doctor. She introduced me to a woman who ended up being like a sister to me. She and her family took us to my very first hot springs experience, in the winter, and it snowed. Coming from the city, that day was like a dream. I'm so glad we still have photos. Mary Lou was always smiling, no matter what. We lost touch for whatever reasons but I never stopped thinking about her and the girls. Some people just stick that way. I know I will continue to think about Mary Lou and you girls for years to come. We are so very sorry for this huge loss but I know she lives on through her girls and their good deeds.

I first met MaryLou at Indian Waters playing Pokeno one afternoon and had an instant connection with her. I'll never forget how the very next morning I was walking to the clubhouse and someone kept calling out MaryLou's name and of course I didn't turn around, so they finally yelled, "hey stuck up" and I turned then to see who it was and of course I didn't recognize the person. The person said "since when do you not say hello". I said hello but I'm not MaryLou. A few steps later I ran into MaryLou who had come by the pool and had a similar situation where someone was calling out Darlene while she was walking to the clubhouse and of course she didn't answer either.
The two weeks we spent together there and even when we were out shopping we were mistaken for each other so many times that we began to tell everyone we were sisters. So over the last several years we always met up one way or another and began a special reationship. Many times I would drive out to Hwy 99 at the truck stop to give her bags & bags of clothes and other items to take to Mexico.
In the winter of 2008 Ben & I spent a month at Pilot Knob so Ben could get major dental work done and Jack & Marylou drove us over the border for several days. Just one of the many ways they both gave to others, asking nothing in return. They were such caring and tremendously giving people. Unfortunately after Ben passed two months later it changed my traveling and I regret that we didn't keep in touch as we always had but I never forgot our special times we spent together over the years.
To Jack & Family:
My thoughts and prayers will be with you always and especially tomorrow when you celebrate MaryLou's Celebration of Life. Heaven has received a most loving and beautiful Angel who will continue to spread her love to those who have gone before.
Ben, give my (sis ) a huge hug and kiss for me. Sis, I'll miss your sweet smile and caring ways

Mary Lou loved us all in such a way that each of us was sure she was our own special friend, as indeed we were! Heaven is the richer for her presence and we by far the poorer for her absence. She gave of herself until she had nothing left to give. What a reflection of Jesus' love! God's comfort now for you, dear Jack, and all the family - Al and Joan

I feel so blessed to have known Mary Lou and Jack and helping when I could with the quilting, Xmas shoe boxes and the one time Gordon & I went with them to see what their out reach was all about. She was the heart of Pilot Knob as well as Alcadones.
She with others did wonderful things in Mexico.
We will all miss her and though I don't travel any more I hope others will be able to keep up her and Jack's work.
Love & Prayers. Betty Zander

The world has truly lost one of the most beautiful people the day Mary Lou went to be with the Lord. She will be missed by so many people, family friends and all who met her. She was a light in a dark place always encouraging and smiling. My heart has a hole that will only be filled when we meet again my dear friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jack and the rest of the family as they grieve the loss of such a beautiful person.
