Obituary of Kenneth Laverne Ohlhausen

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1938 - 2011

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Kenneth Laverne Ohlhausen announces his passing on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Ken was born on September 23, 1938 in Penticton, British Columbia. Ken was employed with the Ministry of Forestry for 35 years. It was a job that he loved very much. He loved quading, fishing and reading. He also loved going out into the woods to cut down trees for firewood for his family to burn at home. In the 1980's and 1990's Ken was a volunteer with the Special Olympics. It was a program that was especially dear to his heart. One of the most valued aspects of life for Ken was sitting down and visiting. He absolutely loved it when people came over for a visit.

With much sadness, Ken leaves behind his loving wife Patricia, his daughters Kelly and Kim (David), grandsons Joel (Sarah) and Josiah, grandaughters Jessica (John) and Johanna, four great granddaughters Arielle, Eden, Maelle and Starlah, three brothers, four sisters, several nieces and nephews and his wonderful sister-in-law Gail (Jim). He was predeceased by his son, daughter father and mother.

A special thank you to Gail who was there to help out with anything and everything during Ken's illness. Your constant love and support to our family was a gift of God. Thank you so much for the dedication you showed.

A memorial service for Ken will be held at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Cranbrook (2000 - 5th Street North) on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to make memorial donations in honour of Ken can do so to the Friendship Ministry, c/o First Baptist Church, 328 - 14th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2X4. This ministry aids in teaching special needs adults in the community in Christian Faith Events.
