1946 - 2011
It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of Vivian Penson from complications of Pneumonia, surrounded by family and friends, on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 71 years of age.
Vivian was born on October 26, 1940 in Nelson, British Columbia. Mom will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. GG's circle of life was made complete with the birth of her two great grandchildren Dexter and Emmy.
Vivian was predeceased by her husband Jim, daughter Cynthia, father Robert Cox and mother Stella Adams. Vivian is survived by her loving companion Norm Blackburn; and family, sons: Jim (Cheryl), Albert (Diane), Robert (Tracey); son-in-law Jim Poynter; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sisters: Aneatha (Al), Roberta (Buzzy), Patty (Klaus), Carol (Paul); brothers Bob (Janet), Donald, Barry (Bev); and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Oncology ward and the doctors and nursing staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
A celebration of Viv's life will be held at the Blackburn residence in Cranbrook on Friday, September 16th, 2011 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, mom would ask you to donate to the Cyndi Poynter Thoracic Nursing Education Fund c/o Vancity Community Foundation, #510, 815 - West Hastings Street, Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 1B4.
