Obituary of Kenneth Lavern Mattice

August 27, 1926 - September 12, 2011

Ken passed away at Joseph Creek Care Facility on September 12, 2011 at the age of 85.

Ken was born in Didsbury, Alberta where he spent his youth farming. Ken's parents then moved the family to the Cranbrook area and resided at Twin Lakes for many years. He commuted to Cranbrook where he worked for 35 years as an accountant for the company now known as Acklands-Grainger Inc.

Ken was very active in the Independent Order of Oddfellows for over 50 years. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

Ken was predeceased by his mother, father and wife Mable. He is survived by his niece's Barbara Desjardin - who has been his caregiver for many years and Carol Pocha of Cranbrook. He is also survived by his aunt Jane Mack of Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec (who is 98 years old); as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins and great nieces and nephews and close friends.

A memorial service for Ken will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Cranbrook, on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in Ken's honour may do so to the: Alzheimer Society of B.C., #300 - 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C., V5Z 1E2.

The family would like to give special thanks to the care givers at Joseph Creek Care Facility, Dr. Sheffield, staff at the Associate Clinic, The F. W. Green Memorial Home, Mental Health, Home Support workers and the many friends for the wonderful care of our dear uncle.
