Obituary of Murray Raymond Carry
Please share a memory of Murray to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
1923 - 2011
It is with great sorrow that the family of Murray Raymond Carry announce his passing on September 9, 2011 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years with his family by his side. Murray passed peacefully into the arms of God with his family by his side.
Murray was born in Acadia Valley, Alberta on October 30, 1923. He grew up on a ranch with his three brothers and two sisters and spent his youth being a true cowboy - raising animals, breaking horses, trapping and hunting. After WWII Murray made several trips overseas to Poland by ship delivering horses. In 1948 he met the love of his life, Wilma Wilson, and they married three years later on July 7, 1951.
In 1954 Murray and Wilma moved to Cranbrook, where they've resided since. Murray started his career with many years served at Miller and Brown, then twenty years with the City Of Cranbrook until his retirement in 1981.
Murray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A true farmer his whole life, Murray loved to tend his huge garden and share the produce with friends and family. His greatest pride and pleasure was his ranch, where he spent every spare moment enjoying his horses, raising cattle, harvesting hay and fishing in the lake. Murray will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Murray is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Wilma, sons Lorne and Kevin Carry, daughter Wendy Carry (Cullum); son-in-law Dave Cullum, grandchildren Lisa Carry (Lacusta) (Jason), Kyle Lakatos, Lorne Jr. Carry, Erin Carry, Ryan Jenkins, great granddaughter Chance Hardy, brother Philip Carry (Lee) and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mable Carry, brothers Jack, Rod and Wendell Carry, and sisters Jean Hahn and Rita Cobb.
A celebration of life gathering for Murray will take place in the reception room of McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook (2200 - 2nd Street South) on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
