My Godmother, Fiorina meant a lot to me, not so much growing up. Her niece, Anita Fisher and I used to go to her house ..sometimes just for the wonderful aromas of her wonderful cooking. When I grew up and tried various recipes of my own, I was lucky enough to go to her house and sample her soups, my favourite was her pea soup. She shared the tricks she knew to make it special. When I mentioned how my mom, Laura Faulds made her Beef & Barley Soup it peaked Fiorina's interest on how to give it more flavor. That meant so much to me...to actually share my cooking secret with her: to brown the beef bones well and create the flavour. I most enjoyed the heart to heart talks we had after our lunches. I wish I had spent more time with my Godmother. I regret not seeing her more. I wonder if she ever wanted me to call her; she never really seemed herself at times after Milo died.
