Archie Keith Carver
December 26, 1947 - August 3, 2015
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our son, dad, grandpa and brother Archie Keith Carver. Archie was born on December 26, 1947 in Cranbrook. He is predeceased by his father Kenneth Carver and brother Danny Carver. Archie is survived by his mother Lois Carver, daughter Shelby Murphy, grandson Liam and granddaughter Caitlin, brothers Brent Carver, Randy (Janine) Carver and Shawn (Alisha) Carver, sisters Sherry (Charlie) Laurie, Vicki (Don) Stanley and Frankie (Kelly) Reekie and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Other than living in Canal Flats for a couple of years growing up Archie spent his school years in Cranbrook. His first job was as a milkman with his Uncle Ray. Archie was working in a logging camp when he was offered the opportunity of going to carpenter school. This turned out to be his lifelong journey taking him to all different parts of Canada. Working on the dome in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa as well as many other cities, but his great love of carpentry took him mostly to northern parts of BC and Alberta, always using Edmonton as his home base when not in camp. Archie loved to work and took pride in his work, once a project was started he would barely find time for sleep.
Archie respected and adored the outdoors. He was forever in awe as he hiked to the local trails and many times would explore to exhaustion. He was joyful and at peace tearing up the trails with a four-legged friend. Archie loved, loved, loved animals and they adored Archie. He was gifted with a real gentleness that drew animals to him. Archie was also a voracious reader and spent countless hours with his nose in a book. The library was a close friend.
We were blessed 3 years ago when Archie decided to make Cranbrook his home again. Archie always expressed a great desire to settle down with a home he built by the water. Though West Vancouver may have been his dream Archie found his peace by coming home to Cranbrook.
Archie was a gentle, generous and caring person with an undeniable sense of humor. He enjoyed telling us stories of his travels and situations he seemed to always find himself in. Laughter came so easily to Archie and to all of us while listening to his tales.
Please join us for a celebration of Archie's life which will be held at the Eagles Hall in Cranbrook on Monday, August 10th, 2015 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers Archie would appreciate donations to the SPCA.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
