Anna Monica Bay | October 21st, 1933 - August 24th, 2015
We are all gathered here, and Wish you were too
Those not here with us, we know, share our blue
As you're remembered today, Anna Monica Bay know
Your spirit, your laugh, your smile, your face
No length of time in this kingdom, shall see it erase!
Your ability to see things for what they were, not what they are.
Your passion for food, like pouring two full days energy into a Christmas Eve affair
We know you loved making it, and eating it, too!
Perogies, macaroni loaf, buttered bread, ham, and stew….
Sandwiches, cabbage rolls, borscht soup, and the iconic headcheese competition
Thought it never set just right for her, year after year, it was her mission.
Her pie crust she was her worst critic and hated
Meanwhile anything we ate she baked, left us all elated!
Some people get it all, and keep it or want more. Not Anne.
She didn't have lots but everyone got a little somethin'
She wanted to win big, and she played her numbers faithfully each week
Had she hit ALL six, we woulda ALL been rich!
A trusted blue comb, and her hair done just the way she wanted,
No matter what she or the family might face, remained undaunted.
But if you happened to call when she was watching curling good luck!
Maybe if you were offering a trip to the Casino and chance to make a buck…
Widowed much too young, for 25 years she endured
She wasn't a pain and for the most part, was undeterred
Now, united once more with her beloved Dan
All these years she dreamed of her man.
Today, may we all find just a tiny bit of solace
And know that there is a little Grandma Bay inside all of us.
Rest in peace.
