Obituary of Donald Clement Ohs

Donald Clement Ohs December 31, 1932 - September 20, 2015 Don was born in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island. His family moved to the Comox Valley where he met and married Sheila Lorraine Creelman. His life careers included: insurance salesman, owner/operator of a trucking company, a short stint in the RCAF, Surveyor for BC Hydro and at the mine in Zebellos before moving to Penticton in 1962 to take a job with Inland Natural Gas as a Drafter/Field Technician. Accepting a transfer to Kamloops a year later he worked (and remarried) until the mid-1980's before transferring to the ING Head Office in Vancouver. Don retired to Cranbrook in 1992 where he immediately immersed himself in the community. He was a member of the Cranbrook Search and Rescue Team, assisted the Columbia Basin Institute archiving the history of Cranbrook and he was a great supporter of the Cranbrook Public Library. He was probably best known for his scathing letters to the editor challenging the large gas companies on the price of fuel. Don is predeceased by two wives and three children. He is survived by three children, ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. He will be missed by his closest friends, Darryl, Warren, Jean, Karen, Avita and Reuben.
