Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

(nee Haslam)

August 15, 1933 - December 24, 2011

Born in Cumbria, England, Maureen is predeceased by her parents John F, Haslam and Anne P Newton and by her husband (John) Jack Pattinson. Surviving family includes her sister, Anne Patricia Smallwood, cousins in England and her children J. Richard Pattinson (Agniezska) and Nichola Wilson (Jon) and her grandchildren, Suzanna, Stefanee, Anneka and Riordan.

Upon graduating Maureen started her career path as a teacher, working until she met and married Jack in 1956. Her son Richard arrived soon after in 1960, and as a young family they immigrated to Canada in 1960. Settling in Winnipeg, she continued with teaching and in 1967 Nichola arrived. Maureen decided to change career paths and worked in the stocks and bonds industry as well as receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg.

Upon retiring she and Jack moved to Gibsons, BC. Soon after with the arrival of grandchildren and wanting to be closer to family, she and Jack again moved to Kimberley in 2003. Maureen and Jack enjoyed 2 years more together until he developed cancer in 2005. Ever dedicated to her life partner, Maureen remained by Jack's side, supporting him until his passing a short 6 months later.

Maureen continued to live in Kimberley for several years more, remaining active in the church, its activities and with her friends. Maureen was truly blessed by having many these and many other friends from throughout her life. In late 2010, Maureen was also diagnosed with cancer, receiving treatment in early 2011 and that blessed with her another year of life and love. Maureen passed peacefully with family by her side on December 24th, 2011.

Maureen, ever a devout catholic, was active within the Catholic Church throughout her life. She joined the choir at St. Mary's Cathedral in Winnipeg and eventually became the choir director. This started her music ministry within the Catholic faith, and she shared it passionately with the parishes she was active in, including St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gibsons and Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in Kimberley, BC. Maureen was a strong supporter of the Catholic Womens League and her parishes. Her devotion to her faith and countless hours spent in service of the Lord was recognized and honored with a medal from Pope John Paul II for her dedication and service.
