Obituary of Gordon Rutherford Straub

1946 - 2012

Gordon went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2012. He passed away in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 65 years of age.

Gordon was born in Lacombe, Alberta on September 15, 1946. He worked for Cominco as a steam engineer for 29 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being with family. Gordon was raised by his aunt Louise and uncle Jack in Alix, Alberta. He enlisted in the Navy at 16 years of age. Gordon will be missed by all who knew him.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife Priscilla, son John (Angie), daughter Kathleen, grandsons Daimon and Karter and many family members and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Olive, father Robert, aunt Louise, uncle Jack, aunt Irene, cousins Bob and Sylvia, and brother-in-laws Art and Andy.

A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at his home (217 - 10th Avenue South in Cranbrook) at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Gordon may do so to the Cranbrook Food Bank Society, 104 - 8th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2K5.
