(nee Moore)

1934 -2012

Hilda passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 77 years of age.

Hilda was born on July 16, 1934 at St. Eugene Hospital in Cranbrook. She lived on the farm at Ta Ta Creek until she was 9 years old. Then the family moved to Kimberley where she graduated from high school. She held the record for long jumping at McKim High, a record that still might be in place today. She planned to enter nursing, enrolled, and was accepted. But, her plans changed when she met her husband Elmer Peter Becker. They recently celebrated their 58th anniversary.

Hilda really enjoyed it when family members dropped in for meals unannounced. She loved to cook for them. She was an excellent cook. She loved all her family equally. She also loved the outdoors, camping, travelling, gardening, especially her flower garden which really grew for her and her indoor plants. Hilda loved animals, especially horses and cats. She also loved to read and do needlework and crocheting. She will be truly missed by her family and many friends alike.

Hilda is survived by her two daughters Jackie Martindale and Valorie Becker (Bob King), twin sons Kim Becker (Judy) and Tim Becker (Shirley), 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother which left her the only survivor of that family. She was also predeceased by one grandson and one son-in-law.

A special thank you to Dr. Vanrieschotten, the nurses and staff at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, and the staff at Joseph Creek Care Village for the excellent care and concern they showed for Hilda. They provided help for Hilda that we are so thankful for.

A memorial service for Hilda will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Cranbrook at 11:00 am. Her private Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
