Obituary of Lois Georgina Olson

(nee Herbert)

1932 - 2010

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Lois Georgina Olson on June 28, 2010 at Joseph Creek Care Village in Cranbrook at 78 years of age.

Lois was born June 1, 1932 in Radville, Saskatchewan and lived in Terrace, British Columbia, Prince Rupert, British Columbia and Victoria, British Columbia as a child. Her family moved to Kamloops, British Columbia in 1947, and there, Lois met the love of her life Art Olson. Art and Lois were engaged in 1951 and married May 17, 1952. They lived in Ashcroft and Lytton, British Columbia and moved to Cranbrook in 1969.

Lois was very active with the Order of Royal Purple and served as Honoured Royal Lady for 2 terms. Lois loved to dance and bowl, but her first love was her family.

Lois was predeceased by her parents Clara and George Herbert and her sister Joyce Tait. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Art; her son Norman Olson; her two daughters: Carol Olson (Dan Barnhardt) and Noreen (Stan) Muglich; and the apples of her eye, grandson Gary Muglich and granddaughter Jaynie Fahlman. Lois is also survived by her brother Harvey Herbert of Chase, British Columbia; her sisters: Connie Hlohovsky of Powell River, British Columbia, Alice Rumney of Victoria, British Columbia and Beryl Herdan of Salmon Arm, British Columbia.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Joseph Creek Care Village for the wonderful and compassionate care Lois received during her 6 year stay.

Mom always had a smile on her face and was loved by all.

Lois's Celebration of Life gathering was held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook and followed by cremation.
