Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Chiz

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

May 22, 1952 - January 30, 2012

It is with profound sorrow that our family announces the passing of our mother, Elizabeth Ann Chiz (nee Baker) on January 30, 2012 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, at the age of 59.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Cranbrook, and it is here that she met her beloved husband of 41 years, William. Together they raised their family here. Mom was a strong willed lady who was feisty to the end. Her fabulous sense of humour was always present at every family gathering. She always had a kindness that permeated to all who were around her.

Mom loved to cook, travel and read. A large amount of her spare time was spent on the edge of a soccer field or in a hockey rink cheering on her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors, as long as she took along the comforts of home, and recently started camping. She enjoyed these activities the most when they included her family.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, William, and her four children, Renata (Don), Patricia (David), William (Sarah), and Lindsay (Brandon).

She is missed by her grandchildren whom she adored, Carley, Michael, William, Hunter and Ava. She also leaves behind her mother Margaret, her brother Lionel (Monica), other extended family and her friend Cindy Lou Who.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at McPherson Funeral Home from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the United Church in Cranbrook. Internment will follow for the immediate family. A luncheon for all who wish to celebrate Elizabeth will be held at the Heritage Inn at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Arthritis Foundation of Canada.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Dawson, Dr. Pont and the nursing staff in the ER and ICU.

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow?

Your life is like the morning fog -- it's here a little while, then it's gone
