Obituary of Stanley Lorne Wieler

1952 - 2012

It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family of Stan Wieler mourn his peaceful passing at home on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the age of 59.

Stan arrived in Cranbrook in 1979 after purchasing the Budget Rent-a-Car Franchise. Always the entrepreneur, Stan grew the business to include the other areas of the Kootenays. In 1996, Stan chose to sell his operations and retire. His retirement included a continuation of some business, something he loved to do. Stan never missed the opportunity on a sunny day to take the Harley out for a ride; never without a motorcycle or two since the age of 16, I know he is riding freely now. His other love was our home on Kootenay Lake, whether it be fishing, boating or just looking at the amazing creation before us. Stan will also be missed seen doing his daily walk around the City of Cranbrook, as that was the ritual of his day. His best days were always the ones he was surrounded by family or grandchildren, his heart truly came alive.

Stan is survived by his soul mate, best friend and wife Nancy, his children Lisa (Adrian) Jones, Lee Knull (Cayley Thompson); Blake Knull (Cassandra Lance); the lights of his life his grandchildren, Sienna, Cameron and Jordan, mother Frieda (Fred) Brunner and sister Karen Wieler Voss, brother- in-law Nino (Lorry) Fabbro and many nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Stan was predeceased by his loving daughter Stacey Lynn Wieler in 2007, father Abe Wieler in 1990, brother Dennis Wieler in 1989, brother Gerry Wieler in 2005, mother-in-law Dorina Fabbro in 2005 and sister-in-law Rosanna Fabbro in 2005. Stan also leaves behind many good and wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at McPherson Funeral Home Chapel in Cranbrook at 3:00 pm. There will be a private family Interment in Westlawn Cemetery. No flowers please. Instead, a random act of kindness would be greatly appreciated.
