Hazel Lunn

Obituary of Hazel Mary Lunn

Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

 (nee Langdon)

October 14, 1925 ~ February 10, 2012

Hazel passed away quietly in her sleep, with family by her side, on February 10, 2012 at the age of 86.

Born on October 14, 1925 in Northern Arm, NFLD to Caleb and Ethel Langdon, Hazel was one of five children. In her early years, she spent time as a postal worker in the Canadian Army. Shortly after, she met Hazen (Buster) Lunn, the man she married and loved for more than 50 years.

From Nova Scotia the couple made their way across Canada, with brief stops in Toronto and Fernie, to finally settle in Invermere, where Hazel worked for many years at Robinson's Department Store and then at the Quality Bakery. Though Invermere was her home for more than half her life, Hazel always held a special place in her heart for her maritime heritage.

Buster passed away in 2002 but there was not a moment in the last 10 years she didn't think about him and miss him. Now, she is safe in his embrace once again.

Also waiting patiently are her parents, two brothers, Robert and Eric Langdon, sister, Maxine Stratton and great-nephew, Michael Henderson.

Hazel will be greatly missed by her brother Oscar Langdon (Jessie) of Hantsport, Nova Scotia, three children, Larry Lunn, Leonard Lunn and Stephanie Lewis (David), niece, Shannon Stratton and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Her grandchildren: Robin van Eck (Arie), Melanie Abbott (Cory), Crystal Zielinski (Rob Adams), Darren Zielinski (Chelsea McNaughton), Timothy and Benjamin Lunn will hold on to the memories of a strong woman with a heart big enough for everyone. She was extremely proud of each of them.

In her last years, Hazel enjoyed every moment with her great-grandchildren: Riley, Gavin, Julianne, Jordyn and Declan. Her eyes would light up at the mere sight of their smiling faces.

For anyone who would like to pay their respects, a graveside service will be held at Mount View Cemetery on February 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow at Lakeview Manor. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Hazel's name to the Invermere Public Library would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
