Obituary of James E. McGovern

James E. McGovern February 15, 1932 - June 12, 2016 It is with extreme sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim. He left us peacefully on June 12, 2016 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 84 years. Jim was born and raised in Spirit River, Alberta and met and married the love of his life Lila in Ontario before settling down in BC. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grand/great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Lila, daughters Gloria (Reg) Annett, Judy (Dennis) Pocha, Marie (Robert) Lister. The loves of his life were his grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Crowe, Jamie-Lee (Will) Madore, Sarah Annett (Kyle), Tyler Pocha (Amanda), Brady Annett (Sarah), Dalton Lister and Cameron Lister, his great granddaughters Korbyn & Kenlee Crowe, and Jesse Spooner brought him great joy these past three years. He is also survived by his siblings Andy (Florence), Shirley White and Albert (Sharon) and extended family members Carl (Tammy) and Hailey McGovern, Steve (Janice) McGovern, Marion, Jennifer and Jill Eunson as well as many other family and friends. Jim was predeceased by his daughter Donna Clark and granddaughter Tara Pocha as well as his parents Fredrick and Irene McGovern, brother Alex, sisters Lillian and Louise. You knew by the twinkle in his eye and his grin, Jim had a story to tell or one of his special jokes and loved to coffee with friends at Timmy's. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook with a reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
