1930 - 2012

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Arthur Norman Olson announces his passing on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 81 years of age in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Art was born on July 13, 1930 in Dunblane, Saskatchewan. In 1937 Art's family moved to Kamloops. In 1946 he started working at CPR delivering telegrams on his bicycle. Throughout his career Art worked as an assistant station agent and station agent. He met Lois Herbert in Kamloops and they were married May 17, 1952. He was transferred to Cranbrook in 1969, and was made a mobile supervisor. He remained with CPR until his retirement, with 40 years of service with the company. Art was an active member of the Elks Club. He was also the past president of the CPP Pensioners where he kept the books like none other! Dad's passion was music. His rhythm guitar playing was extraordinary. He filled our house and hearts with music, the highlight being when Evan Kemp came over and accompanied him.

Art is survived by his 3 children Norman, Carol Olson (Dan Barnhardt), Noreen Muglich (Stan), his sister Lorna Hutchinson and his 2 grandchildren Gary Muglich and Jaynie Fahlman who were his greatest love. He was predeceased by his loving wife Lois, his parents Clifford and Bertha Olson and his sister Bernice.

A Celebration Of Art's Life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:00 am.
