It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Leonardo Capuano announces his passing at the age of 90. Leonardo passed away peacefully in his home on July 3, 2013. He was born on September 7, 1922 in Baselice, Benevento, Italy to Michele Capuano and Maria Assunta Iamille.

After serving in World War II, and working in the mines of France, Leonardo married Carmela Bianca in 1945 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Leonardo worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for 32 years before retiring at the age of 60. During his retirement, Leonardo enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting CPR artifacts for his railway museum, and spending time with his family.

Leonardo was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Nunziata, his sister Amailia, his infant twin sons, his one year old son Michele, and his beloved son and hiking partner, Vince.

Leonardo is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carmela, his brothers Tony (Rose), Joe (Maria Gracia), his daughter Susie Masi (Joe), and sons Mike (Eva), Silvio (Chris), daughter-in-law Toni Evans (Tony), along with eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Parish, Cranbrook, BC on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon 1212 West Broadway Vancouver, British Columbia V6H 3V2, in memory of Leonardo.
