Dave Parkin

March 6, 1920 - March 11, 2012

It is with great sadness the family of Dave Parkin announces his passing at the age of 92 years.

Dave will be missed by his daughters, Noreen (Clay) Davidson of Mayerthorpe, AB and Pam (Peter) Catsirelis of Cranbrook, BC; his grandchildren: Scott (Stacey) Davidson of Edmonton, AB and Misty (Kurt) Hewitt, of Mayerthorpe; great grandchildren: Skyla Elley (18), Zachary (8), Danielle (5) and Lexi (3) Davidson, and Cassie (4) and Brandon (2) Hewitt , sister-in-law Verna (Guido) Gri, and many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. David was predeceased by his wife, Shirley of 56 years in 2005, his son Jim in 2009, his parents: Robert and Amie Parkin, 4 sisters: Margaret Parkin, Mary Corneliuson, Pheme Nabholtz and Violet Pepin and 2 brothers: Bill Parkin and Allan Parkin.

He was born Robert David Helier Parkin, just south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on March 6, 1920 and moved to Cranbrook, BC in the mid 1920's. He went to school in Cranbrook and joined the armed forces in 1941 and served overseas until 1946. Dave married Shirley on May 23, 1949 and raised 3 children together. He worked in the logging industry until the late 1950's, then for the department of highways until he retired in 1985. Dave enjoyed gardening, collecting glass horses, reading and going for long drives.

Dave will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
