Wow, totally caught off guard by this news. Went to school with Marty, played many years of hockey together from teens through Commercial, so very many great memories of games, tournaments, of course the best road trips and parties over the years. Wonderful parents and family, sorry I won't be in town for the service, sincere condolences to Rene, Trevor and the entire Cloarec family...gone way too soon Marty, rest in peace.

For the last 8 plus years I have had the pleasure of working with Marty as a volunteer Director for the Rocky Mountain Trench Natural Resources Society. Marty represented the Cranbrook Archery Club on the Trench Society's Board of Directors and was keen to see grasslands restored in the Rocky Mountain Trench, primarily for the benefits to wildlife. Marty was also a financial signing authority for the Trench Society, so approximately every two weeks I would visit Marty and Trevor at their work shop at Marty's home or over a cup of coffee at the A&W and get cheques signed. Marty was always available to meet with me, most of the time on short notice, and we would end up talking about any topic, not just Trench Society business. Marty volunteered his time to many organizations and was a huge supporter of healthy, sustainable ecosystems for many wildlife species. On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Trench Natural Resources Society, we extend our sincerest condolences to the Cloarec family!

So many memories with Martin and good times. He was a mentor, a wealth of knowledge, a great sense of humor and a real pal.
