I was very sad to hear of Uncle George's passing. I have fond memories of he and Aunt Vera visiting here in Newfoundland. He was a very special person, as was Aunt Vera, and I will always remember them both with great love and respect. My family and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle George. We have many fond memories his and Aunt Vera's visits to Newfoundland, and of our visits to them in Mississauga and Durham. As a young child I was captivated by stories of his early years and told these stories to people with great excitement. Special thanks to his Cranbrook friends and especially Douglas Mitchell for being with him as his life came to an end. It gave our long distance family great peace. It is with great sadness that we learned of George's passing via the church bulletin while many miles away from Cranbrok. George was always a soft spoken gentleman and easy to chat with. In earlier years, it was fun to see him riding the red scooter. May his soul rest in peace and his family find comfort in God's tender love. In sympathy Fred and Rose Stevens

Condolences to the family of George. My Dad, Bohus, is mentioned in his book and assisted George across the border. We stumbled across Witness on the internet and were sad to read that George passed away in 2016. My dad would have loved to reconnect with him and share the special memories of that dramatic time.
