Jean Hedquist was born in Glasgow, Scotland on October 10, 1926 and passed away ninety years and one day later on October 11, 2016 in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.
In 1945 she married Ed Hedquist, and came to Canada as a very young war bride. As a couple they were blessed with three children Barry, Beverley and David.
Mom served the community through the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store for 30 years. Her infectious smile and laughter will be missed by everyone.
She was initiated on May 20, 1957 into Harmony Chapter #45 of the Eastern Star. The following year she was appointed as Ruth. Over the years, she took many stations but most commonly she was appointed Marshal.
In 1966 - 1967 she began her journey to the East and in 1969 -1970 she was installed as Worthy Matron with Len Eckford as her Worthy Patron. The Grand Chapter of BC & Yukon presented her a Commission as Grand Representative of Rhode Island in 1991. Harmony Chapter gave her a Life Membership in 2003 for her faithful service to their Chapter.
Jean was devoted to her family, and was the happiest sharing with her loved ones, and was proud to brag about her children and most of all, her grandchildren and her great-grands.
After Ed's death, Jeannie moved into Garden View, her last earthly home. Jean was predeceased by her parents Martha & James Penman, her husband Ed, her son David, her daughter Beverley and her brothers Robert and James. She is survived by her son Barry (Anita), granddaughters Alyssia and Erika and their spouses and children Van, Evelyn and Jett (Juliette), as well as a host of good friends.
