Pelton, George Robert
1930 - 2017
George Pelton passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10th at 87 years of age.
George was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Darlene; brother Bobby; and in-laws Phoebe and Lloyd Foster. He is survived by his daughter Dawn (Rob), son Lloyd (Lavon), grandchildren Lindsay (Cory), Haley, Nicole (Bryan); great granddaughter Stella Rose; brother Tom (Sharon) and sister-in-law Sharon (Larry) Lund. George is fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews.
George was born to Irene Pelton and Robert Benjamin Pelton in Lethbridge, Alberta. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Kootenays and settled in Cranbrook. Upon his graduation from barbering academy, George moved to apprentice in Penticton. At that pivotal time, George met Darlene: the love of his life. He married her in 1952. They settled first in Kimberley then Cranbrook where George enjoyed a rewarding career as a Barber, for 24 years.
In 1974 George moved on to make new friends first in the mobile home industry and next in the automobile industry. George and Darlene also owned the Lad and Lassie Childrens Wear Store. George retired in 1990.
George was very social and especially loved his time as a member of Jaycees, and the Gyro Club where he was awarded his 50 year pin.
While in retirement George enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with friends and family at the Moyie Lake summer cabin.
Georges humour and friendly manner will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank Doctors Glen and Kevin McIver, who George was very fond of; the Home Care Girls; Stu and Barb Bain at Kimbrook Manor and all the staff and Kimberley Special Care Home.
George's funeral service was held at McPherson Funeral Home on Monday, August 14, 2017.
