Marian Val Kitt
February 14, 1947 - July 1, 2018
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marian Val Kitt on July 1, 2018 at the age of 71.
Marian was born in Vegreville, AB. Her family moved to the Kootenays where they eventually put roots down in Cranbrook when she was 5. Marian was a proud member of the Girls Bugle Band and made many close friends at school and within the community. After graduating, Marian trained to be a nurse which complimented her supportive and gentle nature. She had a varied life and career, living in Kelowna, Vancouver and eventually returning to the Kootenays to be close to family.
She was blessed with the birth of her daughter Heidi Slonowski (nee Kitt) in 1969, and granddaughters Skylar in 2003 and Zoey in 2005. She was married to Ron Stuckey in 2004 who was a strong and loving husband who happily supported her ever-expanding garden.
She was heartbroken with Heidi's passing in 2010, followed by the loss of Ron in 2013. She healed by pouring herself into the well-being of her family and tending to her flowers and plants. Marian will always be remembered for her kindness, humour and love of family.
Marian was predeceased by her parents William and Mary Kitt, husband Ron Stuckey, her brother Albert Kitt, sister-in-law Yvonne Kitt, and daughter Heidi Slonowski (nee Kitt).
Marian is survived by her brothers Ed Kitt, Will Kitt (Jenny), sister-in-law Gail Kitt, son-in-law Garry Slonowski and her two granddaughters Skylar and Zoey. Marian cherished her relationship with her extended family, including nephews Bob Kitt (Joanne), Jim Kitt (Sandie), Ed Kitt (Pauline), Steven Kitt (Lisa), Jason Kitt (Maureen) and Matthew Kitt, as well as nieces Corinne Kitt (Mike Caldwell), Michelle Kitt (Brent Shypitka), Stephanie Kitt (Stan Iakovou), and Tracey Kitt.
A celebration of Marian's life is planned for Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home at 2200 2nd Street South in Cranbrook, BC.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cranbrook Girls Bugle Band on Marian's behalf.
