It is with profound sorrow that the family of Jim Sherret announce his passing on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Cranbrook at 87 years of age.
Jim was born in Coalhurst, Alberta on December 31, 1930. He was a happy man and always made people laugh. Jim was proud of his heritage and the place he called home. He was devoted to loving and caring for his beloved wife Joan and his children. Jim's very honest, strong character and dedication in the community was well noted and he in turn was rewarded with life-long memberships in many of the organizations he was involved in. Jim loved sports! He coached baseball games, enjoyed watching hockey, golf and playing card games. It's who Jim spent his time with that made him love life. Jim Sherret will be missed by many.
Jim is survived by his sisters Carol (Norman) Rediger and Qwen Wills, his sister-in-laws Anette Sherret and Lorraine Sherret, daughter Barbara (Neil) Sherret, son Greggory Reid (Malvina), daughter Genevieve Merz (Jim), grandson Alexander Merz (Dayna) and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Joan, his parents Margaret and Andrew, his brother John, sister Hazel (Eugene), brother Charlie, brother Cecil (Ruth), brother David (Lena), sister Velda (Roden), sister Helen (Jack), brother Gordon and brother-in-law Ronald.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Cranbrook United Church on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 1:00 pm followed by a tea in the church hall. Those wishing to make a donation in honour of Jim may do so to Cranbrook Society for Community Living, #100,1629 Baker Street, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 1B4.
