Obituary of Ethel Irene Eckersley
Please share a memory of Ethel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sleep, my child, and peace attend thee ...On the morning of May 8 2007 at the age of 97 years, Ethel passed away in her sleep at her Joseph Creek residence in Cranbrook.
Ethel was predeceased by her husbands, Gilbert Eckersley and Noel Stickland. To those of us fortunate enough to be in Ethel's immediate family, she gave her all. She laughed with us. She cried with us. She learned from us, but most of all she taught us and with each passing day, we are beginning to better understand how valuable her life experience is to each one of us.Left to celebrate Ethel's life with gratitude and devotion are her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Don McDonald (Cranbrook); her beloved grandchildren, Grant and Diana McDonald (Invermere); Steven and Jeana McDonald (Cranbrook) and, as well, her four great-grandchildren - Matthew, Brett, Richelle and Haley - who will forever have in their memory and in their hearts the love and pride their Nana held for them. To the residents of Lakit neighbourhood and to the nursing and recreational staff of Joseph Creek Residence, our many thanks for your kindness to Ethel. Her visit with you was short, but as she would tell us, "Everyone here is so loving and caring. I am so lucky." Relax now, Darling, you have done well. Guardian angels God will send thee.
